Arrived in the old neighborhood and boy does it feel good.
Good old peaceful northern Michigan.
The one and only!
Before we landed here for our last visit on our way out of Michigan we took a day or so for some R&R. As I mentioned before, I was feeling a little run down and achy, so we spent two nights at the East Tawas City campground easttawascitypark.com
Since Thursday was an all day cool rainy day it was a good choice. Highly recommend the park to anyone visiting NE Michigan. Right on Tawas Bay, clean and affordable. Lots to see and do in Tawas and East Tawas. We enjoyed our stay, although it was a bit early in the season, took a few strolls down on the pier and had a meal at one our old haunts, Mulligan's Irish Pub www.mulligans-irish-pub.com(best corn beef sandwiches in the state) and rested up from our whirl wind time with the family and kiddies.

Morning walk on the pier
Having a great time back with old friends. Even managed to get some of Scott's famous weekend donuts this morning. Love those dipped in chocolate and nuts. If you are ever traveling down US 23 along Lake Huron between Oscoda and Harrisville on a week end you simply must stop at the Cedar Lake Grocery and get some of the homemade donuts. Tell Scott that Carl & Barb sent you.
We brought our 7 year old grandson, Ashton, up for a visit for the weekend. He has been coming here since he was a year old and has become very good friends with Robert and Jeffrey (2 old neighbors). No visit to NE Michigan would be complete without allowing old friends to reunite. It has been great for all of us.
Ashton & Robert catching up
Robert's front door. One of the reasons we love him so much
Jeffrey and Ashton doing what they do best. Messing around in one of Robert's vehicles. They have learned so much from him through this play, and have a great appreciation for VWs
Another reason we love coming here so much. Our friend is such a VW aficionado it is a joy. A sampling of his wonders. Don't ya love it. All who know him are in awe.
Even Petro is making himself right at home. Has his eye on some old chipmunk and squirrel friends
Old friends chatting it up during camp set up
BBQ with neighborhood cronies. All insisted we have two photos so Carl and I each could be in the pic. What ever, It was toddy time along with cheeseburgers, beans, chips a bonfire than off to gelato frozen dessert. Yummm
