Life on the farm

Arrived at the DeJongh farm a week ago. Don't know who was more excited about our arrival, the kids or us? Weather was great for several days with highs in the low 70's and lows around 50. Well, we knew it was too good to be true. Several days ago the temps started dropping and the rain moved in. We had one day of constant rain and mud up to our knees. We thought the wind on Saturday was going to tear our awning off and blow us away. Mother's Day brought sunshine and a bit warmer temps (55 degrees). This morning it was 27 degrees and lots of frost on the ground.Tuesday brought another day of cold windy rain but no snow so we are not gonna complain (much).
Life on the farm has been just as we remembered it. BUSY BUSY BUSY. normal day involves getting the kiddies off to school, doing laundry, dishes, feeding chickens, gathering eggs, planting flowers, working on the new log house, chasing toddlers around the property, making meals, playing with the kiddies, picking the kiddies up from school, bonfires, breaking up fights with the kiddies, giving lots of hugs and kisses, bike rides, playing at the park, changing diapers, and on and on and on.

Participated in a 6 year old birthday party and a sweet 16 birthday dinner, watched a Tball practice, went on bike ride with the kiddies, and had cocktails with our daughter. All in all a successful visit.

Mother's Day involved bonfire and horse riding along with working on the rig. We managed to pack and store 8 storage tubs of "stuff" we do not need for our adventure to Alaska. Checked the tires, brakes and axles on the rig. Finished washing the outside, inside and windows on the rig. So we now feel we are ready to GO!

Apparently the weather and busyness has caught up with me as I have the aches, sneezes, cough, and tiredness that comes with being run down. A full day of sleeping (minimal contact with the kids and family) and immune boosters hopefully will do the trick. Following are a few pictures of our stay on the farm.

Last days with this group of Grand kids. Spent two fun filled days with oldest grandson, Ashton, who is pretty special to us. He is so nice to his little cousins and says, Emma is his best friend. Lost power early this morning, so made coffee with old fashion peculator with wonderful results. May use it from now on. Had a great relaxing day with the family, even watched movie "It's complicated" for a few laughs. Tina made a great pork chop dinner. Tina and Jay sure have a nice place. Peaceful and spacious. Lots of potential and lots of work.  Life is very busy for them with 3 little girls, 2 dogs, both working and lots of family near by.

Tomorrow we head a little farther north to another family with 3 little kids and dogs, and horses, and chickens and more. I am prepared for almost anything. Ahh, life really is good. No promises for when I will be able to post a new notice. Our plan for stay is open ended but at the most 10 days.
